The missing link between cult favorite
Scratches and the anticipated
ASYLUM is... not what you expect.
This free educational adventure was a collaboration by game studios Sabarasa and Nucleosys, and was developed for the Argentinian government. You take the role of Martina, a federal investigator chasing bad guys all around Argentina. It was meant to teach kids the great benefits of paying taxes and being good citizens.
But wait! Don't leave!
While the educational aspect sounds rather boring (taxes, yuck), it's not as bad as it sounds. The subject matter was handled well by all parties involved, including the education team from AFIP (our Argentinian revenue service). The project was highly praised back in 2008 as a groundbreaking educational game and had the involvement of local celebrities.
Most importantly, Nucleosys was given carte blanche for the design of non-educational elements, so this means you can find references to alcohol, ghosts, huge monsters with tentacles, an insane ship's captain frightened by a killer seagull, and lots of entertaining adventure game puzzles.
Risk Profile features:
- Over 12 different missions across 4 varied environments
- 50+ crazy characters with full voice overs
- 12 delightful mini-games, including 4 fun arcades (they're really fun, I swear!)
- A deranged seagull
Alas, the game is in Spanish only. You're more than welcome to give it a try, but you probably won't get far if you can't handle Spanish. Also, there are some decidedly Argentinian gags and references that may be lost in translation, but
Risk Profile can be still enjoyed by any fan of adventure games.
